Eden of the East

Filed under: Eden of the East, Series — Tags: — serenityxx3 @ 7:11 pm

I just finished watching Eden of the East. I would have to say that I don’t know if it’s just me that wasn’t paying attention or that they didn’t explain their terminology well enough because all of a sudden it threw some term like “Johnnies” at me. I don’t really know what it stands for and same with the terminology “NEET”.  But anyways, it was overall a pretty good series, though the ending didn’t make enough sense. But nowadays, not a lot of endings make any sense at all. They usually just leave it up to you and your imagination. But it’s never to my satisfaction because everything that goes on within my mind is usually tragic. Therefore, I’m not satisfied until you give me a proper ending.

Not the best of art for this anime, but the story or atmosphere in the anime makes up for that.

Long Weekend

It is yet another long weekend and I have skipped fifth period on Thursday and Friday. There hasn’t been a lot of posts and I’m thinking that posting episodics aren’t really my thing. Especially because it’s time consuming, and I’m new to this anime blogging. That meaning, it takes about an hour or so for one posts and screenshots. :\

I’ve been watching Trinity Blood lately because I’m into the whole OMGVAMPIRESSUCKMYBLOOOOODDDDDD thing. I can’t say I’m disappointed there isn’t much I’m unsatisfied with. I think it’s okay and I guess creative since there are CRUSNIK’s who suck vampires’ blood and such. But of all things you’re going to call it a CRUSNIK wtf is a crusnik………..

But then again, technically saying anyone can think of a vampire and something that sucks a vampires blood etc whatever.  I’m on episode 23 and it’s alright, I think it’s no explaining enough and they’re rushing the plot too much.

Feb. 16, 2010

Mm, I’m just going to continue this post that I drafted two days ago. I finished Trinity Blood and the ending was well.. could have been better. It’s another one of those endings that leave you hanging and if they have enough money for a season two they’ll air it. :| LAME.

DURARARA!! Episode 4

Before I watch it, I’m just going to blog about what I expect from this episode. But I’m guessing it’ll start with something about Shizuo, some introductory blahblah. Probably going a little more into the history between Shizuo and Izaya. But then again, DURARARA!! throws fruits at me so I’m not sure what kind of episode this will be…

Alone with Only your Shadow for Comfort

04_01

The episode started off with a reporter that was interviewing people about Celty, introduced as Kishitani Shinra in the OP.

04_02

So they’re talking about Selty and if he exists… the guy continues to walk with the hand cam in his face documenting whether you find the headless rider cool, scary, or that you don’t really know how to react to it.

Now we skip to a scene of an airplane in the air with Selty looking at it, sort of, since she has no head. So, I guess in this episode Shinra’s going to be narrating, apparently he’s 24. He’s an unlicensed doctor who repairs people with illegal weapons and does cosmetic surgery for people who need to change their face for whatever reasons.

He gets home and we see… someone in the shower, and that’s when Shinra states that he lives with Selty. Selty can’t talk but they voice her typing. They discuss about Selty finding her head, how she’s the only Dullahan materialized in the city. They talk about the days task, which was easily handled. A scene with Izaya and Selty talking about “DULLAHAN” which is apparently a headless fairy in Ireland. Izaya tells her about an old man who met a Dullahan in the past and lost her head. Then we see her speeding off asking people about the street artist who was apparently headed to Yokahoma.

Shinra narrates about the Dullahan in the past and how she would visit people who are near death. If you open the door you’d get a bucket of blood thrown at you.

SUMMARY OF PART ONE:

Starts off with Shinra talking about Selty who is apparently a Dullahan. A Dullahan is a headless fairy from Ireland who is looking for her head. Shinra and Selty who live together discuss the days events. A scene with Selty and Izaya discussing about a street artist who talked about losing the Dullahan’s head.

The topic of Shinra’s story will be why Selty is so particular about her head.

Start of part two:

04_03

Shinra is narrating about Selty awakening twenty years ago in the mountains without her head and several memories lost. She lost her memories of why she did what she did but she knew she was a Dullahan, her name, and how to use her abilities.

Selty couldn’t catch the old man everywhere she went to visit him, and a scene with Shizuo came up where he provided her with his location and went with her for convenience in talking.

The old man said he’s seen her when he was young but doesn’t recall seeing her head. And can’t seem to figure out how it looked like.

Shinra starts recording again about seeing her stowed away in the ship. Telling his father what he saw, his father decided to talk to her. They agreed on an autopsy and provided her a place to stay. Ever since then Shinra has been attracted to her. Selty disrupts him to tell him that she can’t sleep and so the recording stops there and shows that the weird man who told the street artist that she doesn’t need a head was indeed Shinra.

Thoughts

Overall, this wasn’t anything like what I expected… with Shinra narrating and Selty’s past. I still really like the music that goes with each and every scene along with the feeling it provides. Not much action, goes more in depth with the characters and their past. I can’t say it was a bad episode, it just wasn’t action packed but still interesting. I like how Durarara!! would give each character some screen time but only with reason. For example when Shizuo was there to provide information to Selty, we could tell he’s similar to Izaya in some ways or another with the whole informant aspect. Seems like in the next episode Masaomi and Mikado will get more screen time.

Minami-Ke

After watching the entire three series available, I have a question to every Minami-ke viewer out there. Who is your least favourite character?

MY OPINION:

My least favourite Character would most DEFINITELY would be Ushida. She’s not only annoying, spoiled, and retarded. She’s also greedy, stupid, and always takes things for granted. I can’t express my dislike for her. She really just ruins the show for me. It’s a cute and funny show with slice of life elements but USHIDA. WHY?! I guess you can’t always have what you want, huh.

ushida

please shove something down my throat! i’m not worthy, i’m not worthy!

DURARARA!! Episode 1-3

Credits to Reapernight on AnimeCrazy for uploading these Screenshots above.

To sum up the first episode Ryuugamine Mikado (the boy in top middle picture), moved to Ikebukuro to attend high school with his childhood friend (the blond one first picture, top, left) Masaomi Kida. Kida shows Mikado around, tells him about the rumors and the dangers of the city. Mikado meets a lot of new people in the first episode and it shows a scene with this girl getting kidnapped because she was meeting up with some guy. The guys get pwned by a headless guy with a kitty helmet, as shown in episode one and two.

When I first saw the headless bike riding kitty ears as a helmet, I laughed because.. it was cute. LOL

In episode two, Mikado and Kida attend school for the first day and some guy walks in saying he’ll never be going to school again because he is in search of something. The girl who got kidnapped and saved from the previous episode is starting to think back about what happened in middle school. She found out her dad had an affair and she was texting a stranger by the name of Nakura. When she decided to meet up with him, she got kidnapped and saved by headless bike rider. She meets ‘Nakura’ at the rooftop and was in shock when he told her he arranged all the events that followed that evening. He said he just wanted to test her reaction and she did/thought exactly what he thought she was thinking. She then proceeded to jump off the building they were on to ‘prove him wrong’ except he predicted that move too. Headless bike rider saves her again and shows her a message from him/her.

Overall, this episode felt very melancholic in my opinion. Kind of neutral, reminds me of a slice of life genre except this isn’t so ‘normal’  I suppose.

In the third episode, Sonohara and Ryugamine become class presidents. While Sonohara looks for the kid who doesn’t want to go to school anymore she comes across some next tanned chicks and they bully her. Mikado comes across this with Kida, just when Mikado was going to help Izaya steps in going like ‘Are you going to help her?’…

Izaya drags Mikado and Kida in while he bullies the girls and makes “stomping on girls’ cellphones” a hobbie. He’s laughing maniacally until he stops half way and says he’s bored. Bipolar much?

After they’re finished, they go onto somewhere else and Izaya gets trashed with a …fridge? Shizuo shows up and tells Izaya that he shouldn’t be Ikebukuro. That camel toe “Dollar” (Dollar is a gang) …comes back with his little gang of imitated Dollars. One guy just violently hits Shizuo and Shizuo beats everybody up while Izuya took the chance to leave.

This episode was narrated by Simon the foreign sushi promoter. Which is kind of interesting because they tell stories in different perspectives and I think I’ll continue watching DURARARA!! since I also have a habit of finishing what I start.

Post is kind of boring, blah. Tired.. will update when I have the time to.

Forgot to mention !

Excited for Haruka of a Distant Time 3. I didn’t even KNOW there was a TWO. I tried searching and couldn’t find it. I read the manga first.. and the demon is so hot. Hahaha, *boner. Joking, but yeah the character designs aside from the main character was what got me into it. The story line is just the typical travel back in time, fight evil, and go back to our own time! Whoo hoooo !

Okay since I tagged so much, I think I’m going to just fill this empty space with some ZETSUBOU SENSEI. I can’t believe I haven’t finished it yet, anyways, there is going to be a second season to Kuroshitsuji and I just thought I’d let everyone know. It is one of my favourite anime, not because there is an outstanding plot, because there isn’t. Not because the art is out of this world, it’s average. But more over of a theme that I’d prefer, though I watch a large variety of animes.  It’s a gothic theme, set back in the rococo/edwardian era. And one of my major interests.

Anywho, I want one of those Japanese school bags. But I don’t really know where I would find one. I would also like a Japanese flip phone because for some reason, Canada just doesn’t seem to carry very nice cell phones. Maybe just the companies and such. But I heard Jap phones have poor reception and on top of that, I can’t read chinese/japanese. So, what would I do exactly with a chunk that’s sold for $600+ ?!

Nodame Cantabile Finale

Filed under: Uncategorized, Winter Season — joannew @ 8:13 pm

I was reading Sharon’s post when I saw it! I’m really excited for this final season to come out! This anime is like…how should I explain it. Really sweet and whimsical.

From Wikipedia

“Megumi Noda, or “Nodame” is a piano student at Momogaoka College of Music. An extremely talented pianist who wants to be a preschool teacher, she prefers playing by ear rather than reading the music score. She is messy and disorganized, takes baths several days apart and loves to eat, sometimes stealing her friend’s lunchbox when it is filled with delicacies.

Shinichi Chiaki is Momogaoka’s top student. Born into a musical family, he is talented in piano and violin and has secret ambitions to become a conductor. An arrogant multi-lingual perfectionist who once lived abroad in the music capitals of the world as a young boy (namely Prague), he is trapped in Japan because of his childhood phobia of airplanes and the ocean.

They meet by accident…”

I cut it off there, because you really need to watch it to get into it. It’s just really sweet :], none of that stupid “____-sama  i love you!”sort of thing. I just reallly like it, and I don’t even remember how I got into it. Just gooo watch it. Lols, it’s funny too.

There are currently 2 seasons, and most likely Nodame Cantabile Finale will be the last one.

Next time, I’ll write about Gintama. For now, studying for exams.

Winter 09/10

Got this chart off of Chartfag.wordpress.com

Okay so, I looked forward to Dance in the Vampire Bund the most and according to a few anime bloggers the anime fails. And I would say some of the things did fail, such as the lizard dude that appeared in the first episode. I would say something about the second episode too but I’ll leave that for when I have time for a review, I’m just writing a little before it’s time to go to my classes.

—–

Okay, now that I am back… here’s screen shot of that ridiculous lizard man thing. (Excuse my noob descriptions :<)

Too lazy to stream the episode and take a SS, so I just got this off google.

Boo yaaah. He looks pretty crap. Anyways, overall the first episode showed that there’s a group of people on a talk show trying to prove the existence of vampires. There’s some little blond girl who ends up being the queen of the vampire whatever…

Dance in the Vampire Bund airs every Thursday.

About DURARARA!! ..to be honest I have no clue what the f*** that means. DURARARARARARARAA! lol, excuse my excessive noob-ness.

So, it’s about this kid reuniting with his childhood best friend… he’s a very anti-social kid and when he arrives at Ikebukuro, he’s like what the f***, no I’m kidding, he just meets a bunch of random people. I don’t really remember the details but I like the atmosphere in the anime. It’s kind of like Natsume Yuujinchou, in my opinion. Makes me feel very nostalgic. And a bunch of other emotions that I probably can’t sum up.

Qwaser of Stigmata: Airs every Saturday.

Well, the guy pisses me off and so does the girl with big boobs. She’s stupid and annoying LOL. The anime has some pathetic name for the church and the people. The guy feeds off breast milk for his power. The girl wants to protect his little sister because they are generally always being bullied at school. Boo hoo.

Ookami Kakushi: Airs every Thursday.

This kid moves to a new town with his dad and sister, he meets some girl who greets him very intimately and so his story begins. Apparently, the girl is his neighbour and takes quite an interest in him. Most of the people at his school are taking a huge interest in him except the ‘scary’ looking girl in his class. I believe she’s the class representative. But yeah, one day she just tells this dude to shut up and the next day the guy “moved”. Main character finds it suspicious and asks around. No one knows anything blahblah. Seems like the third episode will have more action so I’ll look forward to that.
